As Tehachapi continues to grow, so does the number of local businesses offering unique gifts, clothing, home décor, handmade items and specialty products for both residents and visitors.
From locally owned boutiques and antique stores to gift shops and specialty retailers throughout downtown Tehachapi and surrounding areas, many residents are making more of an effort to support small businesses and shop locally whenever possible. Whether it’s holiday shopping, birthday gifts, home decorations or Tehachapi-themed merchandise, local stores continue to play an important role in the community.
Tehachapi Apparel Brings Local Style Online
One newer business that recently caught our attention is Tehachapi Apparel , an online-only clothing and merchandise shop focused on Tehachapi-inspired apparel and local mountain-town style.
We recently spoke with the owner, who said the business is currently operating online while they search for a potential retail location in Tehachapi. According to the owner, the goal is to hopefully open a physical storefront by late 2026 or early 2027.
As more businesses continue investing in the area, many residents have also expressed interest in seeing additional shopping options come to Tehachapi in the future. Requests often include more clothing boutiques, home décor stores, outdoor recreation shops, locally made products and expanded downtown shopping experiences.
Tehachapi’s small-business community has remained one of the town’s defining characteristics, and many residents say supporting local businesses helps preserve the unique identity and atmosphere that make the mountain community stand out.
